Choose a live casino game by how it plays
A dealer handles the cards, wheel or other physical equipment, while you place bets and receive the recorded result through the game interface. Blackjack, roulette and baccarat are the main table formats, alongside casino poker and hosted game shows.
To compare live casino games in Canada, check the exact rules, currency and limits of the table you intend to open. The studio name alone does not establish the payout rate, bonus eligibility or availability in your province. A familiar game can have several versions with materially different conditions.
The first choice is whether you want to make decisions during a hand or place a bet and watch the result. Blackjack requires actions after the cards arrive. Roulette and conventional baccarat mainly require you to choose your wager before the betting window closes.
On small screens, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Game | Your main action | Rule to check |
|---|---|---|
| Live blackjack | Hit, stand, double or split when permitted | Natural payout, soft 17 and doubling rules |
| Live roulette | Choose numbers or groups before the spin | Number of zeros and the payout schedule |
| Live baccarat | Bet on Player, Banker or Tie | Commission and special Banker-win rules |
| Casino poker | Follow the named game’s ante and play decisions | Dealer qualification and additional stakes |
| Live game show | Select a bet spot or bonus option | Which bets qualify for each feature |
| Live dice games | Choose outcomes on the displayed betting layout | The specific bet’s probability and payout |
Casino poker against a dealer is different from a poker room where players compete for a shared pot. A lobby tile labelled Ultimate Texas Hold’em does not mean you are joining an ordinary multiplayer Hold’em table. Read the game’s own rules before applying familiar poker tactics.
Likewise, a hosted game show is not automatically a standard table game with different graphics. Its wheel segments, bonus triggers and payout calculations can create a separate mathematical model. The largest advertised multiplier tells you neither how often it occurs nor the chance of finishing a session ahead.
Check the rules behind the live stream
Watching real equipment can make the action easier to follow, but the rules still determine how a winning result is paid. Spend time in the information panel before the betting timer starts. Two tables displaying the same minimum stake can offer different value and require different decisions.
Blackjack payouts and decisions
Check whether a natural blackjack pays 3:2 or 6:5. On a C$10 opening bet, those payouts mean C$15 or C$12 in profit, respectively, before the original stake is returned. This example concerns a winning natural blackjack under ordinary settlement, not every hand totalling 21.

The dealer’s soft-17 rule, number of decks, splitting rules and availability of surrender also matter. CanadaSpin’s blackjack strategy chart uses a specific six-deck S17 profile. Match its assumptions with the table instead of using it for every live blackjack variant. A side bet has separate rules and is not covered by the main-hand chart.
Roulette zeros and baccarat commissions
A standard single-zero roulette wheel has 37 pockets; the double-zero version has 38. With ordinary payouts, the extra losing pocket increases the house advantage. For a simple red bet, zero is not red or black. Special French rules and multiplier variants need their own explanation rather than a borrowed standard percentage.
In conventional commission baccarat, a winning Banker bet normally pays 0.95 units of profit per unit staked. A C$20 Banker win therefore earns C$19 before the C$20 stake is returned. “No commission” does not necessarily remove the cost: a variant may compensate through a reduced payment on a particular result. Read that exception before selecting the mode.
Evolution, Pragmatic Play and the casino lobby
The studio supplies the game, while the casino provides your account, cashier and promotional terms. These are different responsibilities. Recognising the provider can help you find a familiar interface, but account access and withdrawals are handled under the operator’s conditions.
Evolution’s live catalogue includes traditional table games and titles such as Crazy Time and Lightning Roulette. Pragmatic Play’s live catalogue also includes blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows. An operator may carry only part of either catalogue, and different regional versions of the same casino can show different games.
Crazy Time is an example of a hybrid format: it combines a live wheel and presenter with digital features. Its official game page describes separate number and bonus bets. Seeing a bonus round on screen does not mean every viewer has a qualifying wager. Read which bet activates participation before treating a feature as part of your stake.
A supplier’s “First Person” game can instead be an RNG product with a similar visual theme. RNG means random number generator: software produces the relevant random outcomes. Do not identify a game as live solely because the interface shows a realistic table or shares a title with a live version.
How live bets count toward bonus wagering
A casino bonus may allow a game to be opened while giving its bets little or no credit toward wagering. Permission to use bonus funds and the contribution percentage are separate questions. A free-spins headline also does not establish that the associated offer suits live-table play.
For a worked example, suppose a C$50 bonus requires wagering of 30 times the bonus alone. The required credited wagering is C$1,500. How many bets that represents depends on the contribution rate; these hypothetical figures are not the terms of the casinos listed below.
On small screens, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Game contribution | Credit from C$10 wagered | Bets needed for C$1,500 credit |
|---|---|---|
| 100% | C$10 | C$1,500 total |
| 20% | C$2 | C$7,500 total |
| 10% | C$1 | C$15,000 total |
| 0% | C$0 | Cannot complete wagering through that game |
The amounts are turnover, not a recommended deposit or a guaranteed loss. They illustrate why a low contribution can make a bonus unsuitable for someone who mainly plays live tables. You can also decline an optional promotion instead of changing games or spending more to meet its conditions.

As a concrete operator example, OLG’s published live-casino FAQ distinguishes zero contribution for live roulette and baccarat from 10% for live blackjack and table poker. That policy belongs to OLG’s stated offer framework; it is not a rule for every Canadian casino.
- Confirm whether wagering uses the bonus alone or the deposit plus bonus.
- Check the exact game’s contribution and whether any bets are excluded.
- Read the maximum bonus bet, expiry and restrictions on simultaneous betting.
- Check what happens to winnings or the balance if you cancel the bonus.
Open a table and check the total stake
A lobby minimum is only one part of the cost. Multiple roulette chips, blackjack side bets or a second seat can raise the amount exposed in a round. For example, C$5 on red plus C$1 on each of three numbers is a C$8 total wager, even if the main betting area still shows a C$5 chip.
- Choose the operator’s correct provincial product and confirm account eligibility.
- Open the live lobby and filter by game, table currency and suitable limits.
- Read the rules and observe a round where the interface permits it.
- Check the total bet, including optional side wagers, before confirming.
- Wait for the accepted-bet indicator and check the recorded result after settlement.
The video is not the only record that matters. A chip animation before the deadline does not by itself prove that a wager was accepted. Look for the interface’s confirmation and keep the round identifier if you later need to ask support about a result.
Some blackjack tables have limited seats; others use a shared-hand format or offer bet-behind features. These options can change how you participate and which decisions belong to you. Check the relevant help panel rather than assuming a place in the video means you control a separate hand.
Mobile streams, disconnections and session limits
A stable connection matters because a live table continues while the stream reaches your device. Before committing a bet, check that the countdown and action buttons respond normally. A sharp picture is useful, but a delayed or frozen interface can still make a table unsuitable for your connection.
If the screen freezes after a confirmed wager, do not assume the bet has been cancelled. Reconnect and inspect the account or game history. The treatment of an interrupted decision depends on the game’s rules, so there is no universal promise of a refund or automatic winning outcome.
When contacting support, provide the game, table, approximate time, stake and round ID if available. Explain whether the problem concerns an unaccepted wager, a missed decision or a settled result. Those are different issues and need different records. Share account documents only through the operator’s designated secure process.
Set a session time and spending limit before you begin. You can sit out a round without making a replacement bet elsewhere. Dealer chat, game-show presentation and a continuous table schedule do not require continuous betting. If the interface makes it difficult to pause and check a decision, leave the table.
For Ontario, use the iGaming Ontario directory to identify contracted private-market sites; OLG operates separately. The homepage shortlist above has an Ontario switch and links to CanadaSpin’s provincial article. Its welcome offers are not confirmation that live games count toward wagering.
Frequently asked questions
Are live casino dealers real people?
At a live-dealer table, a real dealer or presenter appears in the stream. Some games also include digital bonus elements. A realistic First Person or RNG table is a different format, so check the game description instead of relying only on its appearance.
Can the dealer see or hear me?
Conventional live tables normally show the dealer’s stream to you, with interaction through the game’s chat. Special video-enabled products may work differently. Read any camera or microphone request and the specific game’s explanation before granting access.
Do live games count toward a casino bonus?
Only as the offer’s terms allow. A game may contribute fully, partly or not at all. Confirm the calculation base, contribution rate, maximum bet and expiry before accepting a promotion. A general casino welcome offer does not establish eligibility for live tables.
Can I play live casino games for free?
Some providers offer demonstrations or allow observation, subject to access rules. That is different from placing a live cash wager. Check the mode and balance label, and do not assume that opening a stream grants free bets or withdrawable demo winnings.
What happens if my connection drops during a round?
An accepted wager may remain active. Reconnect and check the recorded round, then contact support with its identifier if needed. Missed decisions and settlement follow the particular game’s rules; disconnection does not automatically cancel a bet or entitle you to a refund.
Are live games more likely to pay than RNG games?
The live format alone does not establish better odds. Compare the exact rules and paytable. A live table and an RNG version can use similar rules, while a multiplier variant or a different blackjack payout can change the underlying mathematics.
